As part of the AFCN FactLab project by the Arab Fact-Checkers Network (AFCN) from ARIJ, and with the support of the Google News Initiative, a specialized training workshop was conducted on the fundamentals of fact-checking and information verification.
The workshop brought together journalists, media professionals, and fact-checking enthusiasts to explore the core principles of verifying information before and after publication. Participants engaged in discussions on fact-checking methodologies, essential verification techniques, and investigative approaches that help ensure accuracy and credibility in journalism.
Additionally, the session provided a hands-on experience with crucial digital tools designed to assist journalists and fact-checkers in analyzing and verifying content effectively. Through interactive exercises, attendees learned how to detect misinformation, verify sources, and enhance the reliability of news reporting in an era of overwhelming digital information.
This initiative aligns with the growing need for responsible journalism and the fight against misinformation, reinforcing the role of fact-checking in maintaining trustworthy and transparent media practices.
