The race for AI supremacy among tech giants is fascinating.
From my perspective, Google’s strength lies in its comprehensive ecosystem, spanning Android, search, cloud computing, and communication technologies. This interconnected system makes competing with Google in AI both a challenge and an opportunity. While Microsoft took an early lead in AI integration, there’s no denying Google’s extensive research and massive investments in the field.
Consider this: In 2017, OpenAI (later backed by Microsoft) spent around $32 million on AI, while Google’s DeepMind spent a staggering $442 million. The difference is enormous, yet Microsoft still surged ahead.
Anyone who compared early versions of ChatGPT with Bard could see the gap. But with Bard evolving into Gemini and integrating deeply into Google’s services, the landscape is shifting.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has aggressively embedded Copilot into Office and Outlook, and is leveraging DALL·E for creative AI, signaling its commitment to AI-driven experiences. Can this strategy slow down Google’s momentum? Unlikely.
And we haven’t even discussed Apple and Meta’s AI ambitions yet… Stay tuned!
